BUSTER IS LOOKING FOR A LOVING FOREVER HOME
Can you help?
Buster’s Story:

Buster is about 4-5 years old, and a neutered male who is very healthy and up to date with his shots. He is a great dog who is very polite, but a little shy because of all he's been through. He is well behaved, and knows all of his basic commands, both verbal and hand commands. He wants to learn more tricks and has been responding to the trainers very well. He is the type of dog who wants to please. He's about 40 lbs and pretty skinny. He desperately wants a loving forever home, and he deserves on. He prefers to be in a home with older kids who aren't so loud, or a home without kids. He was yelled at quite a bit and he really doesn't like yelling.  It makes him tremble.

He does well with other dogs and cats (there is a video of him with a cat below)!  He's well socialized and knows how to greet other dogs and communicate with other dogs, and is respectful of their comfort levels.

He walks well on leash and really does enjoy going for walks, but most of all he is starving for love and attention and someone who is just going to sit with him and pet him and tell him how beautiful he is.

He has worked with 2 trainers who are very well known in the area and both have said he's a great dog, very normal, quick to learn, and quick to please. He loves squeaky toys but what motivates him most is love and attention. A simple rub under the ear or chin will make this little guy's day.

He was awestruck when he was taken to Petsmart, and loved picking his own toys off the shelves. He was kind of partial to a large hedgehog who grunted when he squeezed it, and he found a nice fleece soccer ball he tossed around.  He also loves his rubber chicken (see below) and he likes to squeeze and poke it to make it squeak.

Buster is a very smart dog. The more you get to know him the more intelligent you see he is.  This little guy has been through a lot in his life.  He came from a very loving home that had to give him up because of the economy, then ended up in a home that wasn't so kind.  Eventually he ended up in a kill shelter and was rescued at the last minute and transported to the Washington DC area where he was shuffled around to a few foster homes and then into boarding and then back to foster care. He is craving stability and love.

He also loves to snuggle!

Buster does have a limp on one of his legs. The more I see it the more I think it's an old injury that wasn't properly taken care of.  He walks fine on leash and you will just notice a slight limp, but when he's off leash and he wants to run he lifts his bad leg and runs on 3 legs.  He looks pretty skilled at this which is why I think it's an old injury.  He has no problem bounding up and down stairs or jumping into the back of the car. He enjoys going for rides, and likes going to the dog park, as well as going on hikes and walks.

He's up to date with all of his shots, and very healthy. Buster is also full house trained.

If Buster could have his ideal dream house, he'd live with another dog or cat, and a family with older kids, or adults.  He'd love a home where he can go for walks with his people, play with his people, and snuggle up and spend time with his people.  He'd love for someone to be home part of the day, but he'd be ok in a home where everyone was out working as long as he got plenty of attention when he got home. He doesn't like yelling at all so he'd want a loving house.  He'd also like a home where his new people are going to be really patient with him. It may take him a few months to really feel comfortable since he's been through so much change over the past few months.  He'd also love some squeaky toys and a nice comfy dog bed!
